Nexus One Filters Out Swear Words
The information may make a few of you happy while disappoint a few others. Nexus One is designed to filter any swear word used. That is the speech-to-text recognition option does not let the user (speaker) to send out any swear words. Instead, the device turns those terms into a group of #. Which means when you type a five lettered swear word, the phone will show up the word something like this #####.
This is because in Android powered products, speech to text recognition is yet not thoroughly flawless. The system can sometimes misrecognize the spoken phrase and return some other word. Which can result in misunderstandings at the receiving side. And because of this, Droid phone also has an identical trouble (for some).
It's not the first time swear word is being blocked out, Zune HD is as well doing the same thing with its twitter application. In case you have no idea what Zune is- it's a Microsoft product and it was first out in the market in 2006. And just back in Dec, Zune brought out their twitter application which discards any swear word used. This is one reason (including other) why not everyone likes their Twitter application.
Besides this, one of many Nexus characteristics that don't go along well with consumers is the four buttons at the lower end of the Nexus handset. Why ? because the buttons work only when upper half of it is pressed, and this can be slightly annoying. Also, under the sunlight the display is not visible. These are few of those flaws which folks who have had hands-on experience with Nexus informed.
And the no-profanity feature is in a way positive one. Though a lot of of them will dislike Nexus One for staying a civilized cell phone. For more details read Nexus One Blocks Swear Word
