What Is The Possibility of an iPhone Sprint
An iPhone Sprint partnership may shortly be a reality. These days, there is news that AT&T’s exclusivity contract with Apple is about to expire sometime in the middle or third quarter of 2010. Apple’s management has already expressed its desire to remove exclusivity and cater to more networks so that AT&T won’t be too lax in its service. This is such a wise marketing move that Apple is sure to see figures in sales skyrocket once deals are signed and new contracts are reached. With this development, millions of users who are shouting for freedom from the shackles of AT&T’s poor service can now have a choice in the cell phone mobile network provider that they will use.
Since we also have a lot of contented customers on the Sprint network, they are hopeful that Apple will create an iPhone for Sprint. We should all realize first that Apple created the iPhone to run on GSM standards, and this is carried by AT&T. The Sprint network, however, runs on CDMA. These are two different standards that are completely incompatible with one another. However, the iPhone has been doing some testing with CDMA technology and might soon launch a CDMA compatible iPhone soon. If this holds true, then we will see a new breed of iPhones that will give more power to users and subscribers. Owning an iPhone by then will not tie our hands to the monopolizing chains of AT&T.We will have the power of preference.
Another thing to look into to make the iPhone for Sprint a chance is that the Sprint Co. does not utilize SIM cards. Apple must find a way to integrate this setup of the Sprint network with its iPhone so that it will run on the Sprint carrier. Now this will cost a lot of money to research, test and make this work, so it is hard to forecast for Sprint when the completion date is. Right now, unlocking the iPhone is not the solution since the iPhone needs a SIM card to run. Neither is jailbreaking it, but we are sure that this is a challenge that Sprint will not back out from.
Sprint is known to be a great data and voice supplier, and it augurs well for users especially for areas that have strong Sprint signals.Internet browsing and downloading our favorites on the iPhone will certainly be a joy. If Apple ties up the iPhone for Sprint, the latter should stay true to its tag line of being the “most dependable 3G network” so that customers will find satisfaction with their iPhones and its carrier.
Sprint CEO Dan Hesse says we shouldn’t compare other cell phones to the iPhone because there’s no contest. If it were in the NBA, some phones are just players and the iPhone is Michael Jordan. And like Jordan, the iPhone will get better, adapt to the environment, face the challenges and come up as the winner. The Sprint network is going to be iPhone’s next court.
If all these materialize then AT&T will finally have competition with their service. They better begin shaping up because the power will now be in the consumers’ hands. Apple will also profit immensely since the iPhone will now be more available to more people in more networks! No more monopolizing of the iPhone network and that is what we all wish to hear.Different users have different opinions on the most excellent network carrier. They may choose Sprint, AT&T, etc. but one thing is sure – they will get an iPhone.
In the coming days we will hear more from the various Apple and Sprint insiders. The iPhone Sprint scenario is an exciting possibility that we look forward to in the near future.
