Rumored Verizon iPhone release date true?
A Verizon iPhone release date has been long rumored and hoped for by cell users not on the AT and T network. Yesterday's Wall Street Journal article seemed to confirm a Verizon iPhone release date. September or October was quoted as being the iPhone release date for Verizon. However, many are saying that this Verizon iPhone release date rumor is simply not true. Should you run out and get payday loans to cover the cost of your new gadget, or are all these rumors just that — unsubstantiated?
CDMA network compatibility will determine the Verizon iPhone release date
"Sources close to Verizon" are quoted as saying that the Verizon iPhone release date will be as early as fall this year. Apple is also suspected to be working on a thinner, faster iPhone. Both of these rumors are based on the belief that Apple is working on a CDMA wireless network processor.
Qualcomm has confirmed that they are designing a CDMA chip for Apple, but it would be very difficult to launch the chip in 2010. Not even the promise of easy cash loans can help speed the chip along. Even if Qualcomm has a functioning CDMA or multi-network chip, Apple would need to re manufacture the iPhone to handle the new chip manufacturer.
Verizon iPhone may release in 2011
Verizon iPhones face technological challenges. A Verizon-compatible iPhone only has the reality that Apple "appears to be" working on it. It is no secret that Apple has been working on a CDMA chip for the iPhone, and is in fact working with Qualcomm on WCDMA multi-channel chip that would allow the phone to work across most cellular networks.
Just because Apple "appears to be working on" something and admitted to be working on does not make the Verizon iPhone release date immanent. Most industry watchers agree that if it happens, the Verizon iPhone will release in 2011.
