Verizon Wireless accidentally releases launch date for droid Incredible

It was supposed to be a secret when the Droid Incredible, Verizon’s new flagship phone, was supposed to be released. Now, all customers know they can pre-order the Droid Incredible starting on Thursday, April 29. A teaser web site on VerizonWireless.com accidentally went live earlier today but was quickly pulled. Apparently the cat is out of the bag now.

Droid Incredible launch confirmed

Sightings of the Droid Incredible have been reported by Droid geeks for some time now. The anticipation has been too much for some people meaning rumors of its features and release in the blogosphere. But because of communication breakdown in the inner sanctum of Verizon Web development, we know it will be here April 29 when you can use your credit card to order the Droid Incredible.

Droid Incredible Google Nexus One matchup

It seems that the Droid Incredible has the same specs as the Nexus One by Google and that Verizon users have been waiting for a while for it. The Droid Incredible will have a 576 MB RAM/512MB ROM and 8GB of built in internal storage as well as a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor under the hood. It also plans to have the same 3.7 inch AMOLED display with 480×480 pixels. As with the Nexus One, the Incredible will run Android 2.1.

Android Platform improved with Droid Incredible

The biggest difference between the two devices will be that the Droid Incredible runs HTC's revised Sense UI, according to Eric Zeman at Informationweek.com. Zeman said the newest version of Sense makes using the Android platform seamless and more a more enjoyable experience. HTC’s custom overlay includes more powerful screen switching tools and better social networking support. The Sense UI was confirmed in the screen shot posted by Verizon Wireless on the teaser site before it was shut down.

Droid Incredible: point and shoot performance

Other Droid Incredible features revealed on the short-lived Verizon site include a hefty 8 megapixel camera with autofocus and flash, meaning the Droid Incredible could save you from getting a personal loan for a new digital camera. Other goodies for the Droid Incredible include a GPS, a 3.5 mm headset, 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.1, a light sensor, proximity sensor, and a digital compass.

Droid Incredible: the Droid killer

It didn't take long before Verizon password-protected the Droid Incredible teaser site. On it was the information regarding the April 29th date as well as a large picture of the Droid Incredible. But unless you were lucky enough to catch Verizon with their pants down earlier today, you've been shut out. You can expect the site to be revived before too long along with the advertising blitz urging you kill your Droid, get a cash advance, and order the Droid Incredible.
