IPhone 4 - Everything You Could Want From A Phone
Cell phones seem to get sleeker and slimmer by the day, and the Apple iPhone 4 is no exception. Its new design attracts the eye, a design that is appreciably thinner than the iPhone 3GS. Whereas the iPhone 3GS is 12.3mm thick, the iPhone 4 is only 9.3mm deep for a reduction in size of about 24%. Additionally, the iPhone 4 is narrower, measuring 59mm to 62mm. The weight of the iPhone 4 has stayed the same as its predecessor at 136g, but the dimensional alterations lead to a less bulky perception. All of these aesthetic changes in design are welcome, but the improvements found in the Apple iPhone 4 don’t end there. It’s what is found inside the phone that really illustrates the technological improvements. The Apple iPhone 4 possesses a 3.5-inch display just like the 3GS. It is the improved resolution of the 960 x 640 pixel, IPS display that distinguishes the iPhone 4. The 326 pixels per inch create the highest resolution ever found on a phone. Also featured on the iPhone 4 is the “Retina display.” The name refers to the fact that the display is greater in number of pixels than the human retina is able to process. The high number of pixels brings a new level of performance in sharpness, clarity, and detail of the images seen on the phone. The in-plane switching (IPS) techniques found on all iMac and iPad displays also appears on the iPhone 4. The bright, lustrous display and its huge viewing angle make images look excellent from any position. The iPhone 4 uses Apple's A4 processor, which is the same one that was chosen to power the iPad, and it runs the newly developed iOS 4 operating system. As a result of this OS, the phones capabilities are much better. Previous owners of iPhones will be pleased to hear that multitasking is one of the new capabilities. It feels long overdue but, as with Apple's long-awaited cut-and-paste feature, it meets, and even exceeds, expectations. The iPhone 4 sees big advances with the camera as well. The primary camera on the back has been upgraded from 3 megapixels to 5 megapixels, yet manages to retain the same pixel size. The camera now also comes with a backlit sensor, an LED flash, and a 5x zoom. You can shoot in high-definition, at 720p, 30 fps. In addition, the video recording feature gains the tap-to-focus feature that was only previously already for taking photos. Anyone who owns an iPhone or iPhone 3G should consider the iPhone 4 a must own. Including design changes that are pleasing to the eye, the iPhone 4 has made technological advances that improve its performance as well as its imaging capabilities. These changes make it a noticeable upgrade to previous incarnations of the iPhone.
