Will Mobile Phones Replace The Need For A Mobile Games Console

The games that were on a mobile phone just a few years back were not deemed by many to be very good. Although it was handy to have a game on your mobile phone, they did not even scratch the surface of the standard you would get on a mobile games console such as a Gameboy. Although these days people do not feel that there is any need to be buying a mobile games console because games on the mobile phones have improved so much. With the arrival of things like the iPhone we can now play games that are beyond anything previously available on a mobile device. This is good news for those of us who don't like carrying too many devices around with us.

However it would be a bit early to be sending mobile games consoles to the 'items from the past' category just yet. The PSP and the Nintendo DS really do continue to sell well. There seems to be constant innovation and although the games available with phones are impressive they are just not the same standard as the new games available for the mobile consoles. When you actually think about it, the iPhone is a great device for multi tasking but it is not actually designed specifically for games, whereas the games console is.

For me though, the games on my mobile phone are good enough to keep me occupied for hours at a time so I don't need a mobile games console. But there are plenty of people who want more from their games and do not even play the games on their phones; these people will be hanging on to their mobile games consoles for some time I feel. The gap between the games on phones and consoles is definitely closing though, and it might not be too long before there really is no need for separate devices. The speed of developing technology really is astounding.
