Formal Denial Does Nothing To End Facebook Cell Phone Rumors
Facebook phone gossips spread across the Web Sunday. Facebook denies them. With all the craze over Smartphone's right now, it would simply make sense to rival Apple's iPhone and Android phones for Facebook t hat has 500,000 members to support it. But in spite of Google's world control, the Nexus One quickly faded into oblivion. The Microsoft Kin didn't do this hot either. Facebook says it isn't building a cell phone though it has looked at Facebook cell phone options before. Some think that the Facebook phone would die off fairly easily since it wouldn't be needed by numerous. Others say that before Facebook tries to create its own development platform, it needs for making its Facebook app work better on existing Smartphone platforms.
What to expect from a Facebook phone
There was one place the Facebook phone story began. That place was TechCrunch. Like Apple with the iPhone, Facebook is working with a 3rd party manufacturer in secret to build phone software, claims Michael Arrington. Arrington said that a rock star developer left the Google Chrome project in June for Facebook and that a Facebook phone operating system was likely what lured him away. He thinks that a phone for Facebook would call a friend's name instead of a number and would be really affordable.
Facebook's false starts
Facebook getting a cell phone is just one rumor. There have been numerous more hitting the company lately. Facebook told CNET that its priority was deeper integration with existing Smartphone's, not building its own. Facebook has its ideas leaked a lot although it just changes them after they've been leaked, claims CNN. There was never set forth the music service that is supposed to compete with MySpace music that was expected to emerge have rumors in 2008. There was also never everyone seeing the competitor to PayPal which was called "Facebook Wallet". Instead, Facebook announced earlier this year that it would partner with eBay's PayPal to offer a transaction service called Facebook Credits.
Facebook not competing
A Facebook phone does not make sense, according to John C. Abell at Wired. "The tail wagging the dog" is what Abell states the thought of a Facebook cell phone is. A Facebook cell phone is not something that individuals would want over their original phones. These people want their Androids and iPhone still. Robert Scobe at Business Insider writes that Facebook's priority should be to develop what is missing from its Facebook apps. He talks about all the deficiencies the cell phone would have. He also thinks that Facebook needs a better platform before moving on. Even following the company's explosive growth, the only advantage the Facebook platform has over others is 500,000 users.
